The year if 2010 has been a great year for the Hay family, truly a year of smiles. The year started out great, with friends and family close and celebrating a wonderful six months of life with Lillian Grace. In February we were able to visit Ed’s Aunt Nancy and Uncle Roger in Longboat Key/Sarasota Florida. It was a blessing to have that opportunity because we unfortunately lost Uncle Roger in June after a long hard battle with cancer.
Our summer started out busy with weddings, family reunions, and a big move...a whole 2.5 miles away! We were able to find a great new condo to rent on the south side of Bloomington. We love our new place and plan on staying here till we leave Bloomington. We were finally able to take a break from the busy summer with a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in August. It was a greatly needed break from a hectic move. Lillian had a blast playing in the sand, waves, and swimming pool. A wonderful time was had by all.
Ed started his Junior year at IU at the end of August and started preparing for officer selection process. That included lots of crunches, pull-ups, and running. He is still in the process of getting the never-ending paperwork ready, but we are hopeful for submission to the officer selection committee in March. If accepted as an officer candidate, he will head to Virginia for 10 weeks to complete Officer Candidate School. For now, he is continuing with his school to complete his degree in Public Management at the SPEA school at Indiana University.
The fall was full of fun with our participation in a 5K run/walk, a cold camping trip over Halloween weekend, and completed by a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend celebrated with friends and family.
We are now enjoying this Christmas season in our new home and it is proving to be a good ending to a year full of smiles.
The youngest of the Hay family, Lillian Grace, has had a year of firsts; from first words, to first steps, to a first birthday. Lillian is now a whopping 16 months old, and is quite the character. She is toddling around the Hay household with much gusto, and conquers the world around her with no fears. No chair is too tall, no staircase too high, no sidewalk too long. She now has 8 teeth with what looks like 3 more on the way; all of which she uses to eat just about anything put in front of her, including books. And speaking of books, Lillian has been known to present 10-12 books in a row to Mommy and Daddy with a persistent request to be read to. When asked for a comment of how her year has gone she simply says, “Momma… gaa gaa… Car.. Baa, baa… baby… laa, laa… woof, woof… dadadada.” and of course, “Shoe”. She declined further comment, but sends lots of hugs and kisses.
MOM AND DAD LOVING PARENTHOOD
As for Ed and Jeanette, the mom and dad of the Hay household, they report a busy but good year as parents to Miss Lillian Grace. They both state that they are loving parenthood, and “wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
When asked his thoughts on how the year has gone, Ed states, “If 2011 is half as awesome as 2010 was, it’s gonna be a blast.” Ed continues to work hard in school and be the best daddy in the world to Lilly.
Jeanette continues to work at Bloomington Hospital as an RN on the Cardiovascular Recovery unit. She states that it has be a year full of learning at her job, and a year of wonderful experiences as a Mom. She continues to work full time night shift, take care of the Hay household, and cook up as many new dishes as her time and energy allows. When asked the question everyone wants to know, are there plans for an additional member of the Hay clan, she simply smiles and states, “Nothing in the oven now, but tune in to next year’s edition of The Hay’s Happenings, or keep up with our blog
